When a dog is left in the parking lot of a Walmart, he can’t stop hugging his hero.

Clarence lives by the golden rule of treating others the way you want to be treated. To the sweet 4-year-old rescue dog, that means giving hugs to everyone he meets and holding on to his caretakers in hopes that they won’t ever leave him.

Clarence had never known home comforts. His entire childhood had been spent outside in his family’s yard before they abandoned him in a Walmart parking lot.

The golden retriever-mix met two other abandoned dogs there — a German shepherd and a Chihuahua-mix — and began following them around.

Clarence and his German shepherd pal were ultimately apprehended by animal control, who notified his owner. Clarence was placed on the euthanasia list when his owner declined to come and get him. Fortunately, Hounds In Pounds came in just in time to save Clarence and the German shepherd and place them in loving homes.

Despite having had a terrible start in life, Clarence has no grudges against people and is full of kindness.

Hounds In Pounds stated on Facebook, “He is lovely, kind, and very thankful to be safe with us.” “We can’t help but become caught in Clarence’s golden coat; it reminds us of sunlight, and his personality does as well.” He is bright and warm, and he illuminates people who know him.”

The huge, fluffy dog gets along with everyone he meets, including other dogs, cats, and children. “He is really an angel,” Cat Suzuki, the creator of Hounds In Pounds, told The Dodo. “All he wants is to be by your side.” “What a mush this puppy is.”

Clarence will travel from Georgia to New Jersey in the coming days to begin his hunt for his permanent home. And his rescuers are confident that the affable gentleman would offer joy to any family that is fortunate enough to adopt him.

“He would do well in a family with individuals who are present more often than not,” Suzuki added. “He’s quite lethargic, so a movie buddy or snuggling buddy would be excellent.”

Clarence is eager to offer his prospective partner a hearty embrace and, finally, receive one in return.
